I built a teepee bed for my son

First I built a bed spring. Nothing fancy, just cut to size and screw the pieces together. I made a template to make sure the predrill holes would always be at the exact same place

Finding the right angle was the hardest part of the project. I cross cut every few millimetres then used the chisel to break the remainings

First assembly

And the second to make sure everything lines up

There was a bit too much tension and I was concerned the wood may split. Next time I’ll trust my instinct instead of rushing it. A bit of wood filler did the trick though

First complete assembly. I don’t have close up pictures but i used 6mm t-bolts and 70mm allen screws to assemble the pieces together. The t-bolts are secured with epoxy glue

Right bed : my eldest’s, bought 2 years ago in a store for 120€ Left bed : my yougest’s, handmade with ~40€ worth of wood and hardware

Final picture. My 2,5 yo absolutely loves it and felt asleep in his big boy’s bed the first night
